The ASTM standard introduces a new test for R-value measurement that is being adopted by the camping industry. Klymit is transitioning to this new standard and will display both historical R-values and ASTM R-values (once tested) on their website and packaging.
In an effort to conform to the new ASTM industry standard while not confusing the current Klymit customer base, Klymit is listing both historical R-values and ASTM R-values on their website and packaging. ASTM R-values will be listed once the pad has been tested.
What is the R-Value Measurement?
R-value (resistance-value) is a metric used to rate how well a specific type of insulation can resist heat flow. The higher the R-value, the warmer the pad.
Have Klymit Sleeping Pads Changed?
No. Klymit understands the introduction of the new ASTM R-value standard might be confusing. They apologize for any inconvenience and assure you that the insulation in their insulated sleeping pads hasn't changed. All their insulated pads are designed for four-season use and continue to perform well in cold temperatures (as evidenced by testimonials and reviews).

Klymit avoids suggesting specific temperature ranges because individual sleep preferences vary. Additionally, their Static V's deep welds work with your sleeping bag's insulation for extra warmth. These factors make it difficult to confidently recommend specific temperature ranges for specific R-values.
However, all their insulated pads are suitable for four-season camping and freezing temperatures. How cold you can comfortably go depends on your sleeping bag and sleeping pad combination.
